This app is not an out of the box, point & control solution. It is a rather sophisticated program which requires further equipment (gateways) to interface with on a wireless network.
Further, the user requires an account to then set up the controlling functions for audio, video, lighting, security, cameras, etc. The setup interface on a browser allows complete flexibility to control anything through IR, RS232, or relays ( and with further interfaces, RF)
The user interface and selection of available graphics components are expanding as more users share and the developer expands offerings.
I would suggest that anyone interested in the app have a good amount of time to familiarize themselves with the builder application (online...with browser interface-mac, windows, any) those with no time or with immediate needs might be disappointed (hence some low ratings?). However, those with detailed home control requirement should be delighted with the the options, expandability, and total flexibility of the app. I use this to control 3 samsung big screens, marantz av amp, 2 Macintosh minis, 28 speakers, 3 IP camera interfaces, with plans for other components.
Having just acquired an ipad, I am excited about the possibilities. As yet, no RS232 control feedback is incorporated, but will be added to future releases.
The developer is delightfully attentive to all enquiries and is a regular contributor on avsforum.com ... Search for irule.
The app requires medium levels of geekness, but will accommodate most all of your home control requirements. I was near giddy when I first got it operating.
I would give it 5 stars if it didnt have a learning curve and a requirement to spend some time setting things up. A/V pros will be pleased with the app.
Good luck! Go ahead ... Pull the trigger.
